Irori Table

This is a zelkova wood irori (sunken hearth) table.
The hibachi (brazier) is made of copper plate.

Dimensions: Width 106cm, Height 34cm, Depth 75.5cm.
The width of the table around the hibachi is 13cm.
The table has been used, but the irori itself is unused.

I fell in love with it at a handmade craftsman exhibition and purchased it new for around 300,000 yen.

It was handmade entirely by a single craftsman.
I loved it, but I am now parting with it because my new home is smaller.

It is solidly built and I believe it will develop a beautiful patina with use.

When the hibachi is covered with a lid, it can be used as a regular table, so I think it can be used in spring and summer as well.
The smaller lid on the table can be opened by pressing down on one of the four corners and lifting it up.
As shown in the 9th photo, it can be disassembled, making it easy to clean.

It can be widely used not only in homes but also in inns, traditional Japanese houses, restaurants, and other establishments.
I believe it would be very popular with foreigners if used for minpaku (short-term rental accommodation).

As it has been used as a table, there is some fading on the top surface and some dirt on the copper plate, but
I believe it will be fine as the hibachi part is intended for use with ash.
