The flowers emit a sweet fragrance similar to vanilla, and the essential oil extracted from the flowers is used as a raw material for perfumes.
Small purple flowers bloom densely in a dome shape.

It is weak to cold, but if protected from the cold under eaves in warmer regions west of the Kanto region, it can overwinter. From the second year onwards, the stems become woody and grow into a shrub.
It is weak to dryness, so please be careful not to let it dry out.
