With natural whetstones becoming scarce, after 5 years of trial and error, Morihei's 4th generation president, Mr. Oguro of Asakusabashi, Tokyo, has finally completed an original artificial whetstone with stable quality by blending high-quality natural stones and firing them at low temperatures.
Unlike general artificial whetstones, there is no need to soak it in water for a long time before sharpening; you can start sharpening immediately by simply splashing a handful of water onto it.
The sharpening feel is close to that of natural whetstones, with good bite on stainless steel and steel, and shallow sharpening scratches are also a characteristic.
The mud that comes out during sharpening contains abrasive particles, so by sharpening with the mud, you can efficiently finish the blade edge.
After sharpening, wash off the mud from the surface of the whetstone and store it nearby, wrapped in a dry cloth, rather than putting it away.
