The serrated blade grips the outer shell firmly, and when you squeeze the handle, the cutting blade moves to peel the skin. Any remaining inner skin can be cleanly removed with the tip of the blade. It easily peels both raw and hard-boiled chestnuts, removing the outer shell and inner skin together.
