Japanese Honeybee Attractant Liquid 500ml Native Japanese Honeybee Nihon Mitsubachi
Japanese Honeybee Attractant Liquid 500ml
Japanese Honeybee - Native Species
This is the boiled-down liquid remaining after boiling the honeycomb debris from Japanese honeybees and extracting beeswax.
It can be used as an attractant liquid during swarming season.
We aim to ship within 2 business days of your order, but please understand that delays may occur due to circumstances. We will notify you of the estimated shipping date and immediately after shipping.
Although it is labeled as an attractant liquid, its purpose is to impart a scent to the hive. Honeybees tend to prefer hives with a history of nesting, so for new bait hives, this is used to add scent and make them appear used.
Honeybees have a good sense of smell, so diluting with water is also acceptable.
I use it diluted about 2 to 4 times.
〈Example Usage〉
?Spray onto the bait hive.
?Apply with a brush.
?Apply with a rag or cloth.
?Boil the hive box or frames in hot water mixed with the attractant liquid in a large pot or one-gallon can, or
?Pour the liquid with a ladle, or apply with a wooden stick wrapped in cloth.
I used to do it in a one-gallon can, but
lately, I've been taking shortcuts and my favorite method is spraying. I believe the effect is sufficient even with this method.
In any case, it is often said that mold will grow if not dried thoroughly after treatment. I have never had mold grow with this process.
The season for preparing bait hives is also a dry season, and I believe they will dry quickly just by placing them outside after the work is done, without conscious effort.
This is a natural product. Also, as it is collected by hand, there may be residual wax or impurities mixed in, but please do not mind.
If using a spray, it would be better to filter it through a cloth to prevent clogging.
Ships at room temperature. If you do not use it all this season and wish to store it, freezing is recommended.
At room temperature, it may ferment, and if the cap is tightly closed, the container can become pressurized. I have used it even after fermentation and found it effective, but since mold may float on the surface of the liquid in the container, freezing is better if you will not use it immediately. However, please understand that even with this attractant liquid, beeswax, and a lure, the success rate of attracting a swarming colony is not 100%. Even with thorough preparation, the entry rate is said to be 10-20% for beginners and up to 30% for experienced beekeepers. Nevertheless, as experienced beekeepers know, the joy of a successful colony entry is exceptional. It is a deeply moving experience that is hard to replicate. I sincerely wish for the success of all who purchase this product.
