Description
Rare Guru Curtis Hasselgrave Handshape Fins Rusty Quad Fins
Size: Approx. ML, Basic 4.5 size
Honeycomb Fins

Due to being handmade, there are slight variations in the templates. These are all quad fins of the same size. The drive & power fins are well-made, but there are some scratches. Please understand that these are stored items.

Unlike composite fins, these are formed with fiberglass and honeycomb core, making them lighter and more flexible. This allows for tighter turns and improved board maneuverability. Experience the difference in drive and response.

They are particularly compatible with RUSTY Surfboards, offering a superb finish both functionally and aesthetically.

Profile:
Curtis Hasselgrave is a self-taught mechanical engineer. Fortunately, he spent time under the guidance of some brilliant innovators and their collective, leading him down the path to becoming a Guru of Fin Design. After a brief stint at Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, Curtis spent months at sea studying plate tectonics theory with various scientists. After traveling the world for his research, he was educated by Ray Hicks of the NASA aeronautical engineering program. From there, he moved to Laguna Beach, encountered surfboards, and made a brilliant transition from wings to fin design. In the early 70s, he worked under Mike Hinson at Rainbow Surfboard Company, immersing himself in the surf industry. He eventually teamed up with Bill Barn of Fins Unlimited to help design the longboard box fin setup that became the industry standard. In addition to surfboard fins, Curtis has also developed fins for windsurfing boards, sailboards, and wakeboards. In the 80s, he designed several boats that broke world records, surpassing existing yacht records.
