This is a self-made charging adapter using a step-up DC/DC converter made in China.
This adapter allows you to charge Yaesu handheld radios using a smartphone mobile battery. It eliminates the need to carry your handheld radio's charger and can be shared with your smartphone's mobile battery, making it very convenient. Operation has been confirmed with FT1D and FT2D, and based on catalog information and past performance, compatibility has also been confirmed for models such as FT-3D, FT-5D, FT-1XD, VX-6, VX-7, and VX-8. To use, simply connect it to your mobile battery and plug it into the DC jack of your handheld radio to start charging. The output voltage is set slightly high at 12.6V. Additionally, a component is incorporated to cut off current if the current on the 12V side exceeds 0.5A, preventing unexpected accidents.
Please note that because the voltage is stepped up using a DC/DC converter, approximately 1A of current may flow through the USB terminal (5V side). In such cases, charging from a PC's USB port may not function properly. Also, please try to keep your handheld radio turned OFF while charging. Charging while in receive mode may exceed the output current limit or generate switching noise that degrades reception quality. Furthermore, please understand that transmission during charging is impossible due to current limitations and the risk of feedback.
The LED color may vary depending on stock. Please be aware of this in advance. The DC/DC converter and other components undergo a 24-hour operational test to ensure stable performance. Components for improving voltage quality and protection against short circuits are sourced domestically.
