Antique Belgian Bruges Bobbin Lace Cream Ivory Floral Doily

A piece of handmade bobbin lace, a traditional technique proudly passed down in the ancient city of Bruges.
This is a round doily with a slightly thick diameter of 17cm.

The color is a gentle, soft cream ivory, as if retaining the natural linen color without bleaching, with a hint of a delicate, pale skin tone.
It features alternating dense and loose stitches to represent petals.

The openwork lace is refreshing and cool for spring, summer, and early autumn.
The picot lace edging on the bridge and rim also adds a light and delicate charm.
The edging on the rim also has a crochet-like feel.

It appears to be knitted with a medium-thick linen yarn, giving it a dense, thick texture.
The gentle color also evokes warmth in winter.
Despite being tightly knitted, the finish is smooth.
It is durable and resilient, suitable for casual everyday use.

When viewed from the back, there are areas with small, yellowish-brown stains clustered in two spots (images 9 and the final image).

Although thread ends are visible on the back, they are neatly finished and beautiful even when viewed from the back.

Several small yellowish-brown stains are also visible from the front.

Due to concerns about overall discoloration, bleaching has not been performed.
As this is an aged item, it has been lightly hand-washed at home and ironed.
It is clean and ready for use.
